Kindergarten/School Policies

Sign In/ Sign Out Procedures:  When students have an appointment during the school day, they should bring a note from home to alert teachers of an early dismissal.  When picking up students during class, all parents must sign them out in the office.  Students will not be released without this pass.  Students coming to school after 7:55 must also be signed in by the parent in the office and secure a pass.

Absences: Student absences require a note explaining the absence and date of the absence.  Please submit a note on the following school day.

Dismissal/Transportation Changes: We must have a written note each time advising us of any changes in your child’s dismissal.  Otherwise, children will go home as previously specified.

Visitors:  As a safety concern all visitors must sign in at the school office before coming to the classroom and secure a pass.

Medications:  All medications will be administered by the school nurse and must be prescribed by a doctor in its original container with the doctor’s directions.  Students should not bring non-prescription medications to school.

Homework:  Read to your kindergartener every night for homework.

Classroom Parties/Special Events: We have several seasonal celebrations during the school year.  Our room coordinator and/or teachers will solicit your help with these events.

P.E./Recess:  Children are involved in daily physical education and recess.  This will be outdoors most of the time.  Tennis shoes are the most appropriate and safest footwear for these activities.  For P.E., shoes must be closed toe with rubber soles.  Your child will not be able to participate if they are not wearing the appropriate footwear.

Backpacks:  Please make an effort to send it daily as well as checking it daily for important sharing activities for you and your child.  Due to limited space/safety, rolling backpacks with handles are not suitable.

Kindergarten behavior expectations and rules:

  1. Be respectful.
  2. Be responsible.
  3. Be ready to learn.
