Grading Policy

Grading Policy
Student grades are divided into three categories: daily work, quizzes and projects, and assessments. Daily work counts once. Quizzes and projects count twice. Assessments are our unit tests. These count three times. Students are well prepared for these assessments and are given plenty of notice in order to study. Study guides and/or classroom notes will be sent home. Parents will be notified of upcoming quizzes and tests throughout the year. Please feel free to let me know if your child needs any extra support at home any time throughout the year.

Homework Policy
Students will be assigned a "spiral review" each week. This will cover past skills and will not be graded. Homework will be sent home on Friday afternoons and due back the following Friday. We will review it in class together, giving each student a chance to ask questions, if needed. If your child needs help while completing their homework, morning tutoring will be available in the classroom.

Corrections/Extra Credit
Students may also need to or choose to make corrections to any assignment. Corrections are required on assignments with a grade less than 70%. Students may also choose to make corrections to assignments with grades over 70%. Students have until the following Friday to complete corrections.

Daily Work/Quiz Correction Policy: Corrections must be completed according to grade-level policy (can be found in your child's communication folder). Half-credit will be given on questions that are answered correctly.

Unit Test Correction Policy: Corrections must be completed according to grade-level policy (can be found in your child's communication folder). Once corrections are turned in, your child will be given a retest. They have the chance to earn full-credit on questions that are answered correctly.

Extra credit is not permitted so the only way to raise a grade is through corrections. If a student needs help making corrections, please let me know and we will schedule a time to work on those corrections together.
