November 4

Dear Thunderbird Parents & Guardians,

I want to thank all of you who have stopped by, e-mailed, or dropped a card off to express your sympathies to me on the death of my father. I am so fortunate to work in such a caring community. I appreciate your thoughts and your children have made my days brighter. I've so enjoyed being back with your little ones as they have been little rays of sunshine for me. I was walking in and out of classrooms yesterday and was so in awe of our teachers and your children. I know special days can be disruptive to the learning environment, but what I saw yesterday was truly amazing. I saw teachers calling students by their book character name when calling on a child to respond to a question, I saw students busy moving letters around during their word work block, kindergarten students learning how to tally groups of 5 to record the number of lines on their classroom pumpkin, and so much more. Even on such an exciting day, your children through the expertise of their teachers were supporting our mission of learning.
